Personal Health Budgets
Personal Health Budgets
An individual with long-term health needs receives a Personal Health Budgets to enhance their control and involvement in their care and support services. It’s not new money, but it’s a different, more empowering way to spend the money the NHS already gives you. Personal health budgets work in a similar way to the direct payments that thousands of disabled people and people with long-term health conditions are already using to employ their own care and support staff or to pay for other aspects of their care. Once assessed as eligible, patients collaborate with their recovery teams or care coordinators to establish their personal health budgets, which are currently in a trial period and subject to negotiation regarding the appropriate amount and spending strategy.
